Peekaboo is heading west! I am thrilled to share that Peekaboo is now available in Colorado at Safeway, everyone’s favorite supermarket. To expand the Peekaboo brand west is a dream and I’m so excited to spend more time in the Centennial State. 

While Peekaboo is available in over 20 Safeway locations throughout the state, I particularly love Denver for its outdoor activities and beautiful scenery. The capital city is welcoming, forward-thinking and fun! 

Since Peekaboo is part of the Colorado scene now, here’s a little insight on the “scene”. In no particular order, the list includes my go-to’s, must-sees and a few things in between.

All About Denver 

Located in the Rocky Mountains, Denver, Colorado is nicknamed the ‘Mile-High City’ because its official elevation is one mile above sea level. Once just a stopover through the Rocky Mountains, it has blossomed to be a pretty cool place with a booming restaurant scene, a mix of cool attractions, and a thriving arts community. Recently, it was named as one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. so trust me when I say, Denver is worth a visit on its own. 

Fun Fact: Did you know that Denver records an average of over 300 days of sunshine per year? That’s more than Miami Beach! 

With the Family  

Washington Park 

Wash Park, as the locals call it, is just a taste of the outdoor life in Denver. The 155-acre space centers on a lake, complete with a boathouse, green space, gardens and activity areas for throwing a ball around or enjoying a picnic (with a couple pints of Peekaboo by your side). Surrounded by a 2.5 mile path that is packed with runners, cyclists and parents with strollers, the park breathes life to the center of Denver.

The Modern of Contemporary Art Denver

An art museum might not be the first place I’d head to with the family but MCA Denver is so interactive, it has something for everyone. The museum features a giant, blinking, rotating heart sculpture by Tim Noble and Sue Webster (perfect for family photos) and boasts an incredible collection of contemporary works by artists like Basquiat and Marilyn Minter. If your visit coincides with an opening, the museum is rumored to throw the best parties in town.

Red Rocks

Okay, so this place is a bit of a trek but if you’re a music lover, this natural amphitheater is surrounded by dramatic red rocks that boast the best acoustics of any outdoor arena in the States. It is also stunningly beautiful and worth the hike!

Where to Eat  

Cart Driver 

An unimaginably tiny shipping container boasting a perfect-crust pizza, fresh oysters and a handful of appetizers. Plus there’s Prosecco on tap and they like kids, it’s a win-win.

Stueben’s Food Service

This place is a Denver institution for brunch. There’s a subtly southern menu, a buzzing patio and house Bloody Mary’s served with bacon-infused vodka. Definitely order the Steubie snacks, a version of Chex Mix coated in peanut butter, chocolate, and powdered sugar.

Stowaway Denver 

Entirely whitewashed and filled with greenery, Stowaway is a casual all-day cafe where everything is pleasant, healthy-ish and just feels good. There’s dishes like chia-pudding, farro salads, and a great coffee bar where you can pick up takeaway meals.

Shopping  

Alpine Modern 

This curated design shop in downtown Boulder offers an array of gifts and décor that perfectly suit cozy mountain life. Think hand-knitted plush toys, homemade candles, and essential oils. There’s also a modern coffee and tea bar attached so you can sip and shop.

Rockmount Ranch Wear 

Rockmount Ranch Wear was founded by Denver celebrity Jack Weil, the original inventor of snap-close cowboy shirts. To fit in (or stand out) this is the best place to buy old-school cowboy shirts, and boots, hats, and a great bolo ties, if you’re really looking to get the whole kit!

Where to Stay

The Kimpton Born is Denver’s answer for a design-forward hotel. With wood accents and slate floors, it has a mountain-vibe that isn’t kitschy. Book a double room, there are two comfy queen size beds and enough room for the kids.

Something to note; Denver is only a thirty-minute drive or bus-ride south from Boulder, another exciting getaway with great hiking, a dynamic food scene, and great skiing. If you have an extra day (or two or three), definitely head to Boulder.
