Hello, fellow Ice Creamistas, our favorite day of the year is finally upon us. Better than New Year’s, Christmas, and the first day of summer put together, it’s finally National Ice Cream Day! Every year, National Ice Cream Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in July, as part of National Ice Cream month – which gives us another excuse to live out our wildest ice cream dreams (as if we needed an excuse).
How Ice Cream Day Came to Be
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month and established National Ice Cream Day as the third Sunday in the month of July, finally giving ice cream the permanent recognition it deserves.
Say what you want about the 40th president, but the man knew what his ice cream. In his proclamation he referred to ice cream as “the perfect dessert and snack food.” And, of course, we’re all like… “just wait till you taste Peekaboo with Hidden Veggies!”
